Puppy development
Start right. Confidence, socialisation and the foundations that shape a settled, happy adult dog.
Balanced, breed-aware training that meets your dog where they are — from first-puppy foundations to serious working-dog craft.
Meet your trainer
I love two things: dogs, and helping people learn. After years in leadership roles across IT firms, I decided to build a life around both — coaching owners and their dogs, out where the real work happens.
Growing up I handled and taught people to handle show and protection German Shepherds, along with all kinds of working dogs. Those are some of my fondest memories, and giving that same confidence to other owners is exactly why Jurassic Bark exists.
Your dog is part of your family. With the right coaching, a bit of friendship and a few laughs, we can give them — and you — the best possible life together. That's why I work with a balanced approach: the method fits the dog and the owner, never the other way round.
What we train
Whatever stage you're at, training is built around your dog's breed, temperament and your goals — not a one-size template.
Start right. Confidence, socialisation and the foundations that shape a settled, happy adult dog.
Calm, structured help for dogs that struggle with other dogs, people or the world around them.
A dog that comes back — every time, off lead, even with distractions. Freedom for both of you.
Put that nose to work. A brilliant, breed-agnostic way to build focus, drive and a tired, happy dog.
Games, obstacles and teamwork that sharpen obedience while you both actually enjoy the process.
Breed-specific handling for working dogs — gundog foundations, drive management and real fieldcraft.
Book a free discovery call and we'll talk through your dog, your goals and the right next step — with honest advice, whether you train with me or not.

Testimonials
Real words from real clients across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Can't thank Rich enough for all of his help throughout our block sessions. From having no recall with our Spaniel to now being able to enjoy walks and playing fetch. Always there to assist not only in person but text and phone calls. Can't recommend enough
Can't recommend Rich highly enough. A very down to earth guy who obviously knows his stuff. Not only does he show you what to do but explains why you're doing what you're doing & what it's doing. All in an easy to understand way. Rich is also flexible enough to change up the lessons when the dog says "nope, not quite ready for this bit yet". We're only three weeks into our training but the difference not only in our Collie/Whippet Willow is amazing but our ability to start seeing & understanding what's going on. None of the training feels like hard work as it's done in such a relaxed fun manner & Rich is always just a text or call away if you need anything between lessons. Can't wait to see the results of the rest of the lessons
We were at our wits end with Gunner in Jan 25. Our other dog was very unwell and Gunner had became very reactive towards people and dogs as protecting Buddy. Rich stepped in and assured us he could help with Gunner. Buddy sadly passed away in Feb and Gunner has totally turned a corner. The pressure of not protecting his brother and the training has changed him from reactive to just a normal 1 year old pup. Not only has Gunner developed confidence but so have we as owners and are so grateful for this. The weekly sessions are amazing and I think we still have lots to go. I can't wait to see what else Gunner learns. Rich is so helpful with letting us know what we need to tweak and if Gunners reactions to people and dogs is OK. It certainly tires him out. I've recommended Rich to 4 of my neighbours as they cannot believe Gunner is the same dog
